In this video, I show you how to setup your Bing Ads conversion tracking using the UET tag and conversion goal. This is pretty much the same as with Google AdWords, but with a few adjustments.
Next, you will need to create a conversion goal. You just setup a pixel on ALL of your pages – how does Bing know which conversions you want to measure? If you have a funnel with a sales page, thank you page, order page, order confirmation, etc… Bing will need to know which one you want to track conversions on that will appear in your columns. So we need to click on ‘create conversion goal’ and follow the steps.
First we will need to create a name for the goal, and then click on ‘destination URL’. I would then say ‘URL contains’ and input only the domain name followed by the sub-ID’s for my site without the ‘www’ or ‘http’, etc… This is because you don’t know what the person may type in to reach your site, so by putting those in, you are limiting yourself to only those exact URL’s that are typed in.
You would then just basically fill in the blanks. Select the UET tag that you just created that corresponds to the pages you have input the code in. Set a value for each of your conversions. Is each conversion worth $20? $10? Also, every time someone buys a product, is each PRODUCT counted as a conversion, or regardless of how many products a unique visitor buys, it remains 1 conversion? These are some of the options you will need to fill out as you see fit for your business. The conversion window is basically the window of time your conversion can still be tracked for the person(s) buying. So if you set your conversion window to 1 day and someone visits your site and buys only after TWO days, you will not see a conversion recorded for that person. If you set your conversion window to the maximum 90 days, then someone who buys your product after 90 days of going to your site will count a conversion for you as well under that campaign.
After you fill all these out, you should be able to have everything up and running for your conversion tracking. I use a tool called ‘UET tag helper (by Bing Ads)’ as a Google chrome extension to help me determine whether the tag is input correctly or not. Just open the page where your tag should be, open the tag helper, hit refresh, and if setup properly, your UET tag helper should have a little green square with a number on the bottom left indicating that there is a correct pixel setup on that page.
