This is a part of my focus video series. If you haven’t seen my focus tip #1, make sure to check it out as well.

It’s been said that our best friend is a good reflection of us, or that the average personality of our 5 friends is equivalent to our own.

What do you do if your friends don’t have the desirable personality traits you want?

Does that mean you too are now forced to have those traits despite wanting otherwise?

Luckily, there is a solution.

Focus tip #2: Limit your contact with old friends and make new ones.

This is indeed a cold approach, but a super necessary one at that. I’m not suggesting you immediately cut off all contact with those friends… but try to slowly cut down your time spent with them… believe it or not they will exert a HUGE influence on you and your psychology.

I myself was against this idea. I would say my friends are great people and should not be removed from my list.

Yes, they can be great people. Remember them as such. But after leaving some of my old friends behind, I saw the difference – truly massive. I realized how much they were holding me back and making me lose sight of what I want. If I planned on reading 10 books in a few months but hanged out with my friends, my plans changed shortly thereafter. My ambition and energy were drained, NOT increased. I lost focus of the big goal.

I started saying that I was busy when asked to hang out – and busy I was – I was focused on my goal to make money from affiliate marketing.

Had I gone out with them, my focus would have been lost and I would have reverted back to my ambitionless self.

But I did want to make new friends. I couldn’t afford to meet new people yet from the expensive high-level academy courses where you go in-person.

So my next best alternative was the following:

Join any groups you can with like-minded people such as yourself.

Biggest place to join is Facebook. You might also find people on meetup.com, a place where you can find people with similar interests to yourself.

In the Facebook groups I am in, people constantly post success stories and ask questions and encourage me to move forward. I would get numerous notifications from these groups during the day, which would remind me of my goal at hand and keep me focused. Compare this with notifications from my old friends who used to always be negative and take me right down the hole with them.

I have added a few people from the Facebook groups and talked to them – I learned a ton and was really motivated and inspired by what they are doing and how they are learning. Do the same!

Here are some examples of the Facebook groups I am in that always encourage me and motivate me to more forward:

ClickFunnels Avengers (Affiliates)
FB Marketing Mastery
Facebook 10K Revenue Club
Facebook Ads Rockstars

Most of these groups are centered around Facebook ads – that’s because I spent a considerable amount of time learning them, and am still learning. Find your groups that are relevant to whatever you are selling and join the group of like-minded people to you.

That’s it!
