In this video, I wanted to show you how to create a LinkedIn sponsored InMail ad.
LinkedIn is another great platform you can use to promote your products online.
It is not as widely used as Facebook or AdWords, but that is where your advantage would come in.
You can reach an extremely targeted and narrow audience with LinkedIn ads – the only downside to this is that it is extremely expensive and costs at the minimum $2.00 per click for an ad click and $0.75 just to send your inmail message to one person!
It is similar to Facebook in that you can do laser targeting – select a bunch of topics you want to target and make sure all of them intersect together.
The first thing you need to do to start advertising on LinkedIn is to create your own personal account. This includes creating a regular ad or an inmail ad.
Simply go to www.linkedin.com and complete the process – it’s really fast and simple.
The next step involved creating our company page.
Depending on how you want to run your ads, you may want to create a ‘business page’ so that your ads are seen as coming from a business, rather than your personal account.
To do that, you need to click on ‘Create New Company Page’ from the options you see at the top of your menu bar, and make a name for your company and say ‘yes’ to the verification that you are the owner.
Once you do that, your company is up and running and you can do some minor changes, like adding a description and images.
Now that we have done this, the last step is to actually create your ads.
Click on ‘Advertise’ from the top menu, and you will be redirected to the next page.
Click on ‘Start Now’ and you should be able to start building your ad.
The layout is the same as for Facebook ads and Google ads – create a title for your ad, find your audience, set a budget, etc…
For the InMail Sponsored ads, you have the option to send people directly to your website or to a LinkedIn ‘Lead Gen’ form where the visitors can fill in their details, such as name, email, phone number, etc…
You would then be able to go in and download that data and then upload it to your autoresponder.
For the InMail ads, simply write out the ad, add a banner, add a personalization if you want (such as first or last name) and click next.
Keep in mind that the audience list that you choose from the different categories must include everyone that is on that list together at once in order for the ads to show. In other words, it’s not like the basic Facebook interest targeting where it’s the ‘and/or’ approach. For LinkedIn, all the categories must intersect in order for the ads to show and the more topics you add, the more narrow and targeted your audience will become.
Select your audience, set your bid (minimum $0.75 per mail send), enter your card details, and your ads should start running right away!
And of course you can always go back in and edit your ads and campaign.
That’s all for LinkedIn ads! Give it a try and if you are getting a positive ROI, keep going with that campaign and maybe others! If not, consider changing something up or just not running LinkedIn ads for that campaign at all. LinkedIn ads aren’t perfect for every campaign!
