Microsoft Ads: Very Important Note If You Have Adult Advertising Enabled…

by Ivan

Hey all!

In this video, I go over a pretty important point about having adult advertising enabled on your account.

You may think that there are no side effects of having this “shell” added to your account, however there definitely is and it’s something you are not told upfront.

In this video I cover briefly what adult advertising is, what effect it had on my campaigns, some examples, and what you can do if you have adult advertising enabled right now.

Basically, adult advertising is the promotion of sex, porn, etc… on your Microsoft ads account. Normally, you are not allowed to promote these offers and your ads/keywords will be auto-disapproved if you do.

For this reason, you need to request permission to have this adult advertising “shell” added to your account in order to promote these offers.

I found some offers I wanted to test about 2 years ago and so requested to add this shell to my account, and then forgot about it.

As it turned out, a few of my other campaigns had very low amounts of impressions because of adult advertising being enabled on my account. Even though the offers I was promoting weren’t adult-related, they were still affected by this general “shell”.

So campaigns that would generate 1,000 impressions per week for example would be getting only 30 with adult advertising enabled.

In the video, I show examples of 2 campaigns that show a drastic increase in impressions after I created a new account without adult advertising enabled on it.

So if you do have adult advertising enabled, there are 2 things you can do:

1. Ask Microsoft ads reps to remove adult advertising privileges on your account. You won’t be able to promote adult offers anymore unless you request for adult advertising again, so make sure you don’t want to promote any other offers if doing this.

2. Create an entirely new Microsoft ads account. Note – this does NOT mean create a sub-acount within your existing account – you need to create a completely new account from scratch as though you were creating a new account for the first time.

You can still use the same email as for your main account, and you can even ask Microsoft ads reps to help you with this switch if you are unsure how to do it.

Just contact them and tell them that you want another account without adult advertising enabled, but don’t want to ask to remove it from your main account, so want to create a whole different account so your other campaigns aren’t affected – they should help you with that.

If you want to do it yourself, you can also download Microsoft ads editor, and simply copy & paste the campaigns you want from your main account to your new one without the adult advertising shell enabled.

But that’s pretty much it!
