Should you use ClickFunnels? I have been using it since January 2017, and here is my ClickFunnels review on it so far…
You are probably here because you may have heard about ClickFunnels and want to know more about it and whether it’s worth it for you, or you’ve read a bunch of other ClickFunnels reviews and want to gather as much data as possible before you dive in – either way is fair enough and I welcome you to my site.
Hey, I get it! In fact, I read all the ClickFunnels reviews myself before even trying out their free trial, heh, I was THAT careful. Lots of scammers nowadays and you gotta know who you give your money to.
Anyway, in this video, I want to lay out some pros and cons for you to help you decide whether ClickFunnels is right for you and whether it’s a scam or not.
I will try to explain everything in as much detail as possible and provide you videos/images/everything I have in my arsenal to make it as clear and obvious for you as possible so you gain the most out of this ClickFunnels review. So let’s jump straight in, starting with defining ClickFunnels.
WHAT IS CLICKFUNNELS?
Here is a video from my YouTube channel I posted long ago about what ClickFunnels is. Don’t laugh at me! I was still learning at the time :p
You can also read the blog post associated with that video here.
But basically, ClickFunnels is a platform developed by Russell Brunson that allows the users to quickly and easily create entire sales (or marketing) funnels.
WHAT IS A SALES (OR MARKETING) FUNNEL?!
A funnel is a sequence of pages, such as a landing page, a thank you page, a sales page, upsell page, downsell page, etc… all with the purpose of maximizing the amount of income you can generate from every visitor to your site.
As you can see from the picture, with ClickFunnels, people come in red, and then leave blue. This is why ClickFunnels is such as fantastic system!
What I meant to say was that from the picture, you can see how a funnel can be useful to YOUR business.
You can engage with clients in variety of ways and NOT leave money sitting on the table. Unless you are playing poker and the game still isn’t finished. But there are many opportunities for you to engage with your clients, and you should take every chance you get.
Now normally, building such a sales funnel would be a hassle, requiring external hosting, a bunch of widgets, plugins, maybe even a developer! But not with ClickFunnels. They have an all-in-one, all inclusive system that allows you to put everything together in one place. After you finish creating each individual page that makes up the funnel, you click on ‘save’ and your funnel goes live! It’s that easy!
ClickFunnels seems like the perfect platform, but there are a few downsides. What I am hoping to cover in this review are each of the pros, and each of the cons to make you aware of what you would be dealing with. Here is a brief ‘table of contents’ as to what you should expect for me to be going over 🙂
- Super easy funnel-building platform, with a drag-and-drop, WYSIWYG editor
- Hundreds of high-converting templates ready for any purpose, whether it’s for a webinar, membership site, regular sales page, etc…
- All-in-one platform that has really everything you need to build your funnels from scratch to finish, such as hosting, page builders, etc…
- Phenomenal support available 24/7 that creates videos most of the time to provide an answer to your questions – not a generic ‘you need to do this to get xx done’ – they actually show you via video how to do what they preach
- More than just a funnel building platform. Also contains additional support materials you can use to improve your online marketing in general from ANY perspective – not only funnel building
- Has a 14-day free trial. What better way to determine if a system works for you or not?
- The cheapest plan is $97/month after the 14-day free trial. That may be expensive for some people, and they may prefer to go the long route and just get all the hosting, widgets, and necessary tools and combine them together rather than pay the price
- ClickFunnels is not for someone who is a professional web developer and wants to play around with the elements and try different types of code. You can definitely add code into ClickFunnels, but it’s not as fluid and customizable as say, WordPress.
- ClickFunnels is only a few years old, so that means there are changes and updates. You don’t have to pay for these, but if you are someone who gets really used to a certain way of doing things (like having the save button on the left side rather than the top side), you may not like that ClickFunnels changes things up every few months
I think that about covers it. If I think of anything else, I’ll be sure to… just edit this post…
Now I hope you weren’t dissuaded with the ClickFunnels negatives, so let me start with the positives 🙂
PRO #1 (SUPER EASY FUNNEL BUILDING PLATFORM)
Ok, so I have made that claim, and now, as all philosophers would say, I must defend it!
Here is a short video I made showing the simply drag-and-drop ‘what you see is what you get’ editor in action:
Here is a screenshot of what it looks like when you are trying to add a new element and some other elements that are available:
So as you can see, you literally drag-and-drop your way to success. Need a timer? Drag and drop it. Need a video? Drag and drop it.
I don’t know what else I should say. I have tried using WordPress in the past, and the editor there was definitely not as easy to operate. It is possible that it just had something to do with the theme I was using, but after trying out a few other themes, that’s definitely not something I wanted to use, and I came back to ClickFunnels every time.
You are pretty much given everything you need in terms of elements, so just grab them, place them, edit them live, and that’s it!
PRO #2 (HUNDREDS OF HIGH-CONVERTING TEMPLATES)
The cool thing about ClickFunnels is that they have pre-made templates that you can use to build out your funnels. So instead of having to start a new landing page, then a new thank you page, then a sales page, then an upsell page, etc…x30, ClickFunnels has it all ready for you.
Here is a short video on that:
Andddd some b-e-a-utiful images:
If you feel that you don’t want a template and want to start from scratch in ClickFunnels, or want a template to be longer or shorter, then who am I to stop you!??!?
You can create a fresh template from scratch, or edit existing templates and then save them as new. So definitely lots of variety there!
In addition, the templates keep being updated and uploaded, so you will have an ever-growing list!
The other cool thing is that if you want to see some other high-performing funnels or just flat out BUY them, you can! Here is a video where I talk about the ClickFunnels marketplace where you can view of the highest-performing funnels, make them yourself, or just buy them!
PRO #3 (ALL-IN-ONE PLATFORM)
So as already mentioned, in order to create websites or funnels and integrate them together, you would normally need a landing page creator, web hosting, an autoresponder system, a tracker, a split testing software, a programmer, a developer, widgets, plugins, GADGETS.
I mean…. COME ON!!
Thankfully, ClickFunnels allows you to avoid all that crap, and get straight to the chase. We want to make money right, not learn how to integrate 10+ systems together.
In terms of hosting, once you finish making a page in ClickFunnels, all you need to do is click on ‘save’ and that’s it. Your page is LIVE and ready to go. Here is the URL that you would distribute out to people when you first log in and work through ClickFunnels:
You can definitely get your own custom domain and integrate it with ClickFunnels. They even provide you with a free secure connection.
But do you NEED your own custom domain? Not necessarily.
You have a nice ClickFunnels URL already generated and you can even use that through bit.ly or any tool such as that.
Most of the time, you can even set a separate ‘display URL’ from your actual destination URL, so if you can’t get a custom domain or don’t want to, hey! You don’t need to!
Everything is here and ready to go.
-> Email Autoresponder:
You also don’t really need an autoresponder, although if you have a provider that you are happy with, you can very quickly and easily integrate the two!
But ClickFunnels does offer their own autoresponder that you can utilize yourself. They also provide you with exact customer information, such as exact location, name, email, and much more. Facts you can use yourself to send them followup emails!
-> Split Testing and Tracking:
Same goes for tracking and split testing.
Again, both are included in ClickFunnels and super simple to use. Here is an illustration:
If you had a sales page and an order form page, you would also see the # of people who purchased, and the total purchase amount.
In this case, the page only generates leads, so that is as far as we see here – but don’t worry, ClickFunnels tracks EVERYTHING! And in great detail too :p
The split test feature is also super easy to use.
Right below each page, above the ‘edit page’, you can see that it says how many visitors and the % of conversions there are for each of the two pages.
All you need to do is give your website visitors the top URL, and it will split the views among the two pages equally! Very simple.
Of course you also don’t need any programmers or developers or CODING, as you can very quickly and easily do this yourself through ClickFunnels.
So think of it as a landing page builder hulk. It creates way more than just a landing page, and does it with ease at that.
PRO #4 (PHENOMENAL CHAT SUPPORT 24/7)
I haven’t had a problem yet with the ClickFunnels support team where the representative was rude, unfriendly, or unhelpful.
I sincerely hope I didn’t just jinx myself there – I still use ClickFunnels!!!
ClickFunnels representatives know what they are talking about and in the case that they don’t – refer you to a senior who is more familiar with the systems and tools in place and is in a better position to help.
Here are some good ending conversions I had with some reps:
My apologies that I had to cut out their names and faces – didn’t want them to get mad in case they saw this post!!
In addition, I don’t know about you, but I am SICK and TIRED of getting crappy responses from ‘representatives’.
Company representatives of… garbage??
It is rare that I get a good reply and when I do, I make sure to let the Manager know so we get more of those in the world.
Anyway… Point I’m trying to get across is this: ClickFunnels representatives sometimes send you a VIDEO of their computer screen showing you what to do and how to solve whatever question you have, if your question requires it.
ClickFunnels reps don’t provide a generic ‘do this to get this done. Bye.’ reply. I’m not going to force you to see another bunch of convos, so here’s an example of how they use videos to help you out:
So in conclusion for this part… ClickFunnels has terrific customer support. If you need help, they will be there. You won’t see them disappear for 2 months suddenly when you ask them about billing information.
PRO #5 (MORE THAN JUST FUNNEL-BUILDING)
What I mean by this is that ClickFunnels doesn’t just give you the tools and make you use them. They also have a variety of different networks and programs you can get yourself to train and get better at marketing as a whole.
I’m not going to spoil anything, but basically, you have additional options to learn the marketing techniques to apply yourself for your own success.
The ClickFunnels Facebook group is also super awesome – there are a ton of questions and answers not only about ClickFunnels, but about marketing in general.
What are the biggest and most successful traffic sources that people are using? How are they marketing to their clients? Did anyone have luck with solo ads at all?
These are all questions that you can ask in the ClickFunnels support group and get some answers back.
Like I said, not just a funnel builder, but a marketing builder.
OK, so now that we’ve got the positives out of the way, let’s get into the negatives… I was kinda saving the worst for last.
So… here we go…
CON #1 (PRICE)
Did you REALLY think that you can get away with all those PROS and not pay a price for it? Well, a price you must pay, in greenbacks.
The cheapest plan is $97 and the more expensive but all-inclusive one is $297.
The $97 plan includes the following:
- 20 funnels you can keep at a time (you can delete any you’re not using and make space)
- 100 total pages within the funnels
- 20,000 visitors to your site per month
- Everything else you may need to work with ClickFunnels
The $297 plan however, includes 2 additions in addition to unlimited funnels, pages, and visitors.
This includes something called ‘backpack’, which allows you to track all of your affiliate programs under one roof. So if you are a vendor and want to distribute your product to vendors so that they can sell, you can keep track of everything with this ‘backpack’ feature.
The other inclusion is ‘actionetics’, and that basically allows you to send custom followup emails to your subscribers/buyers, track the EXACT details of your audience, and basically gather a ton of information about your clients.
As mentioned previously, price may be a concern and some people may prefer to just integrate all the systems together rather than spend the $97 on ClickFunnels.
So that is for sure a point to be taken. Lower the price, dang it!
ClickFunnels does offer a 14-day free trial though, so it’s not AS bad. And either way, the $97 is definitely worth it.
CON #2 (CUSTOM CODING)
As we already discussed, ClickFunnels is a platform that allows you to build entire funnels super quick. That means that there is coding, but the customization is limited.
If you are a coding wiz, and want to practice inside ClickFunnels, go ahead! In fact, I have a ton of videos on that as well on my channel that you can take a look at, starting from video 16 or so in that playlist:
However, if you are a coding junkie and want complete freedom to do whatever the heck you want to do, ClickFunnels is not meant as a coding playground.
Everything here is simplified for YOUR OWN convenience, and putting coding into the mix does not make it… simplified.
So if you are someone who wants complete control of your page and want to put letter a 5 pixels from the top, and then letter b 4.2 pixels from the top, ClickFunnels may not for you!
CON #3 (UPDATES AND CHANGES)
As mentioned earlier, ClickFunnels is a fairly new platform.
Even though that can be seen as a good thing because the ClickFunnels team is extremely ambitious and dedicated to improving every single day, it may cause a slight hassle for some of you, since you may get so used to seeing something a certain way, that you will not want to readjust and relearn where everything is.
I am exaggerating here, and it’s actually not as bad as it seems at all, but let me give you an example.
Here is a picture of the ClickFunnels editor a few months ago. This was called Version 1 editor:
As you can see, the toolbar is on the right-hand side, and so is the little chat box down below.
Let’s see what the main editor looks like now, which is called version 2 editor:
As you can see, it is slightly moved up now.
It does have some additional features and benefits, but if you really got used to having everything on the right-hand side, that doesn’t matter.
On the bright side though, you still have the option to access this editor version 2. Here is how:
As you can see, you can still access the classic editor, but I believe that may soon be removed.
So they are allowing a kind of ‘smooth transition’ so that you can try out and test out the new page editor at your own pace.
I WOULD GIVE CLICKFUNNELS A SCORE OF 9/10
So that’s about it for my ClickFunnels review.
As you can see, the verdict is that ClickFunnels is NOT a scam.
I personally use it and would strongly recommend it to anyone who is trying to build out their own funnels very quickly and take their business to the next level.
